A weekend to remember...

This weekend was suppose to be a big event. This was the weekend to celebrate Grady's 1st Birthday and his baptism. My parents and grandparents and Mike's sister and her family all came up from Nebraska to spend the weekend with us. We had a great time Friday and Saturday until I came down with the flu on Sat. afternoon and then Mike got it around 10:30 that night. By morning, after having puked up my toenails, I decided to call the minister and cancel the baptism. He was very understanding...thankfully. I then called my mother-in-law to tell her that I would be sending the potatoe salad back over to her because I could stand the look of it, and she informed me that she had been up since midnight with the flu. Poor girl! So, like I've mentioned before in my earlier posts, "just when something's about to happen, something happens." Our family then decided that since we were sending them on their way with our nice parting gift, that they would get an early start. So, Sunday morning, they all left...I was REALLY SAD :(  Luckily, the bug only lasted 24 hours, now we're back to normal and ready to carry on with the week! Oh, and did I mention that I ended up pulling my groin on Friday?

Wanna here another story? Okay here it goes. So Friday started out as a beautiful day. I was going to enjoy this day 1) because I had not gone to bed yet from working the night shift and 2) because I wanted to get the house cleaned before everyone came that afternoon. So, I decided to take a little break around 10:00 to get some sun on our deck. I just so happened to be talking to my mother-in-law and decided to lie down on a little railing on the deck...dumb move. At first, it felt nice to stretch out on my back, but then I soon discovered, "how am I to get off of this?" If I rolled to the left, I would of dropped about 4 feet to the ground and if I rolled to the right, I would of landed about 2 feet on the deck. Okay, this should be an easy solution, I'll try and just sit up. Okay, another dumb idea...I can't do a sit-up!  Mind you, I couldn't use my arms. So, there I was flat on my back on a hard board just wide enough to keep me balanced and talking on the phone. I started giggling so much that I could barely talk anymore. My mother-in-law said she'd come and look for me if I didn't get her called back letting her know that I landed safely. I felt like an old cow getting over on her back...please God, don't let me bloat! I finally decided to roll the way I thought would deliver the lesser blow...to the deck! So, being the smart blonde that I am, I decided to extend my right leg over the side and TRY to find the floor of the deck to place it on and then I could just effortlessly get off the damn board. Not such a good idea since I have stubby legs. OUCH.....there it was. I rolled off the board, dropping the phone and landing on my elbows. It took me a second to decide if I was going to be alright, or if anyone had been watching me? Nope, good I was home clear. Until, I tried to stand up. I felt a pain in my right groin like never before. I pulled it! As the day wore on, it got sorer and sorer and by Saturday, I was acting like I'd ran a hot poker into my thigh and groin. It hurt so bad! But, now I'm lots better and the flu is gone, so life is good! Unless, I decide to take up Yoga and restrain it again. Doubt that will happen!

But, inbetween the bouts of using the toilet in more ways than one, I was able to get some pictures of the birthday party! We'll plan the baptism for another time. It was a fun evening for everyone else and I think Grady really enjoyed his party!!!
